CPA Workshop feedback
ASATA's workshops on the Consumer Protection Act proved hugely
successful. Have a look at what some of the delegates said:
- Robyn portrayed the act very clearly and concisely!
Relevant examples were used to get the message across! The handout is very
self explanatory! Extremely useful for the full benefit of the Travel
industry and highlights ASATA’s role in working with its members for
everyone’s benefit! - Ken Tweedie, Divisional
Executive, Durban
- I thought the workshop was excellent. It was explained
in a manner that we could understand. It has also assisted in informing us
as to what we require in the office in order to avoid misunder-standings
e.g. voice recording. Robin did an excellent job and I have already used
the information I gained with family and friends.
- Kerry Stewart, Financial Director: Sure The Travel Agent, East London
- I personally enjoyed and leant from both the CPA and the
new Companies Act that was presented to us by the team from ASATA. Well done!
We need more workshops like this to educate owners and managers of the challenges
that we are facing and about to face in our travel industry. I am shocked that
more business owners are not taking these Acts seriously.
- Dinesh Naidoo, Serendipity Tours, Durban
- Very informative, enjoyed Robyn's interpretations relative to
the Travel Trade. - Ulandi Whelan, Senior Travel Consultant:
Sure The Travel Agent, East London
- I would like to congratulate you on the professional
way in which you have presented the subject matter for each to
understand: Not too much detail, though enough to get a clear picture of
the many pitfalls. With the emphasize on only relevant issues, you have
skipped the jargon and unnecessary, and thus effectively highlighting
the important aspects with relevant examples, spiced with your typical
humour. It is my honest opinion that every ASATA member should attend
these interactive sessions. Thank you ASATA and Robyn for yet again
adding value to be an ASATA member. - Johann
BEUKES, CEO: SURE Etnique Travel, Bloemfontein
- For me the workshop was an eye opener, it taught me
a lot of things I wasn't aware of. The presentation was informative
and very clear in the way Robyn arranged the slides. We now know that
we can get into trouble with false advertising. Even though some of
the things she touched on did not apply to the travel industry, those
points made me aware since they applied to me as a customer. In
conclusion I noted that the ACT is not there to catch us out, just
to help those who have been previously disadvantaged in terms of getting
help when it comes to very bad "customer service".
- Ntsiki Lujiza, Domestic Consultant: Sure The Travel Agent, East
London
- On Thursday last week I attended the evening managers’
session of the CPA workshop in Durban. The content of the workshop was
helpful and very informative with a booklet supplied for review and
reminders as needed. Robyn, with her innate ability to get the serious
message across tempered with humour, gave a concise and relevant summary
of the parts of the act that affect us as travel agents, making it easy to
understand and less of the threat we initially imagined it would be. I
think everyone who attended the workshops felt happier and more at ease
after this. The evening workshop had added value with a talk from a prominent
lawyer, Mr Michael Judin on the new Companies Act, which had previously been
a complete enigma for me. He unbundled the act and gave us a clear summary
of the reasoning for the changes and what they entail clearing much of the
haze that previously surrounded this for me. I now feel that I can safely
check it all out for myself without feeling lost and threatened. All in all
this workshop was very worthwhile and proves once again just how much value
ASATA adds to our businesses. - Kath Cowie, Manager:
Carlson Wagonlit, Balito
