SA moves to adjusted lockdown alert level 2 – What you need to know
President Cyril Ramaphosa’s address indicated that Cabinet has decided to move the country to lockdown alert level 2 due to a surge in positive COVID-19 cases.
Here is what you need to know about the easing of the adjusted level 2 regulations:
- The hours of curfew will start at 23h00 and end at 04h00
- It remains mandatory for every person to wear a face mask that covers the nose and mouth at all times when in public spaces. It is a criminal offense not to do so
- The sale and distribution of alcohol are permitted as normal
- Funerals remain restricted to no more than 100 people, and, as before, night vigils, after-funeral gatherings, and ‘after-tears’ gatherings are not allowed
