ASATA has submitted its application to the South African Qualifications Authority for recognition of a professional body. Under ASATA’s strategic pillar of Member support, the key outcomes will include:

  • Influencing of the training curricula;
  • Approving the certified training institutions;
  • Overseeing the introducing of designations for certified travel professionals;
  • Overseeing the ongoing professional development programme for the retention of designations.

ASATA is the first association in the travel and tourism sector to apply to recognition of a professional body.

Travel agents will have access to the ASATA Professional Programme to assist in building their annual competency points to achieve a professional designation through SAQA.
